Uttarakhand disaster: NDRF, SDRF, ITBP join relief, Air Force with Shinook on standby mode
After the terrible disaster in Uttarakhand, relief and rescue work is going on. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has reached the spot himself to take stock of the situation. Helpline numbers have also been issued to help those stranded in the disaster. These numbers are 1070 and 9557444486.
Three teams are particularly engaged in rescue operations here. NDRF, SDRF and ITBP. The biggest and relief thing that is coming out from the rescue operation so far is that this incident is not as terrible as 2013. The central government has also sent Navy divers to Uttarakhand, so that it can be rescued in the river in a better way. So far 5 teams of NDRF have been sent. More than 200 ITBP personnel have reached. The army's engineering task force has also reached. After suddenly rising water, 12 people were reported to be trapped in a cave, which ITBP has successfully rescued.
Apart from this, the Air Force has also been placed on standby. The Air Force is ready to join the rescue operation at any time with its fighter aircraft, Shinook.
The Central Water Commission says that there is no threat to the surrounding villages at the moment. Nevertheless, the National Crisis Management Committee has clearly stated that central and state government agencies should be vigilant in Uttarakhand.
A team of DRDO avalanche experts has also been dispatched. The NDRF estimates that 40 to 50 people may have drowned in the river water. Priority is being given to finding and saving them. Rescue operations can continue for the next 48 hours.
Let us tell that a part of the Nandadevi glacier in Uttarakhand was broken at around 10 am on Sunday. Due to this, situations like flooding occurred first in Dhauliganga and then in the Rishiganga River. The power project on the Rishiganga River was destroyed. Unaccounted water in the river started flowing at a high speed with huge amount of debris. Everything that came in the way started getting destroyed.
